Update Router OS & Firmware
Use the methods below to upgrade the router OS after connecting to it with Winbox.
- There is a Resource option under "System" in the winbox menu.
- Just click it. The "Architecture Name" and "Version" of your router can be found in the newly opened tab.
- Go to the following URL:"https://mikrotik.com/download" and use the OS version currently in use and the name of the mentioned architecture to obtain the most recent version of the file.
- Drag the downloaded file into the "Files" option in the System menu.
- Reboot the router by selecting the Reboot option from the system menu.
- The Winbox Title and the Packages menu will display the new version number once it is finished.
Alternative Way to Update to Latest Version:
- Go to the System > Packages menu option in Winbox. A window with the package list will display.

You can find the Check For Updates button inside the Package List box. Just click it. You'll see the Check For Updates window.

Choose stable from the Channel dropdown selection inside the Check For Update window. Changelog is displayed following the upgrade button click.

Downloads will commence when you click "Download & Upgrade" and your router will reboot.
- Your router will be running the most recent version of RouterOS after the reboot. To ensure that your router is running the most recent version of RouterOS, click the Upgrade button once more.
Upgrading MikroTik RouterBOARD Firmware:
The instructions that follow will demonstrate how to use Winbox to upgrade the MikroTik RouterBOARD's firmware.<
- Go to the System > Routerboard menu item in Winbox. There will be a routerboard popup window.
- You can discover the factory firmware, the current firmware, and the upgrade firmware inside of this Routerboard popup window.
- Select Upgrade from the menu. When RouterOS prompts you to confirm an upgrade, select Yes.
- Your router will restart with the updated firmware installed in a short while.
Note: The router OS and firmware must be in the most recent version in order to configure a Wi5River.
